Fruitdale is an unincorporated town in Jackson Township, Brown County, Indiana. Its primary source of employment is the Fruitdale Market Gas Station. Since 2007 the Lake Lasalle Naval Regatta has been held in June, wherein residents of Fruitdale construct boats along a general theme and are judged on that theme by the Lake Association. It began in 2007, the theme was Pirates and was won the Bolinger family. The 2008 theme was Vikings and was won by Joan Amati. The 2009 theme was "The Love Boat" the winner was again Joan Amati making her the first two time winner. The 2010 theme was "Cutters and Clippers." In an interesting take on the theme winner Louis Capwell, created a bike powered paddle boat which was then covered in italian flags as an homage to the film "Breaking Away" which was filmed in nearby Bloomington. The 2011 theme will be "Canoes? Can You."
